PGA Tour star says rule change means some players will ‘never be seen again’

Golf standout Kevin Kisner is sounding off on the forthcoming PGA Tour rules, forewarning that players may vanish from the radar.
Set to take effect in 2026, these changes aim to up the ante on competition by trimming tournament field sizes and cutting full tour slots to 100 from 125.
There’s also a new crackdown on slow play stirring debates among the elite. Fresh off his missed cut at the RSM Classic, Kisner took to social media with prophecies of finality for his peers: “It will be a crazy day to watch the @TheRSMClassic and the 125 on the @FedExCupTracker,” he posted on X.
“There will be guys that lose their playing privileges today [that] you will never hear from again [because] of how much of a closed shop @PGATour is becoming.”
This dramatic shake-up comes as the FedEx Cup Fall ranks players for PGA Tour status, bestowing full passes to the top 125 and limiting conditional spots to ranks 126 through 150. Beyond that threshold, golfers must navigate Q-School for a shot at the Tour.
After Kisner placed in 196th place over the weekend he seems unlikely to make the qualifying cut for the next PGA Tour season. “I literally could care less what direction they want to go,” Kisner posted online Sunday afternoon
“I was just pointing out how fascinating today would be to many careers.”
In a PGA Tour professional history spanning over nine years Kisner claimed four championship titles including his win of the RSM Classic and in a playoff in the Wyndham championship against five others back in 2021.
He said there are large changes expected as LIV Golf will possibly bring massive cuts that may bring about an end to many careers of those competing at this level including himself in a very new golf world era.
